Hand sewing…
I have been spending my days hand sewing things; other than whip stitching items in need of quick mending, I had never really sewed anything by hand before… I didn’t realize how many different stitches there were! There are several practical stitches, and hundreds of fancier stitches! When I haven’t been online looking at sewing and embroidery, I’ve had my nose in a book(same topic), or had a needle in hand trying out new things!
I’m going to post pics of the reading pillow I’m working on (embroidering is all that’s left to do). I found a remnant of 100% silk at my local fabric store, and couldn’t resist nabbing it and making it into a pillow similar to one I had seen online here. I took it home and started cutting and basting, ironing and pinning, sewing and stitching, and finally after several needle pokes, cramped fingers, and many hours later, I turned it outside in and voila! it turned into a pillow case! Later I stuffed it with batting and closed the final seam… Then I added ribbon and tried it with a book. (Pillow case measures 10″x14″)
I’ll also post pics of the bookmark I crocheted a couple of weeks ago, that will be an addition to the pillow (not sure if I should attach it or not – it measures 13″ long). Also you can look here if you want to check the progress on my crazy quilt block.

Not quite sure what I made…
I’ve just spent the past two hours cooking! I have no idea how that happened…
Usually I’m a very ‘oh-no-it’s supper-time-and-we-have-to-eat-something-soon’ kind of cook. But today – today I decided to get an early start! Oops…
At 4:30 I put chicken breasts in the oven and figured I’d figure out what else to put with them while they were baking. Around 5:00 I decided to cut them into pieces and add mushroom soup and some frozen broccoli and cauliflower. By about 5:15 they went back in the oven while I figured out what to ‘make’.
Pulling out a pot, I put some water on to boil. Still unsure what to put in it – but boiled water is good, right?!
Around 5:30 the water started to boil and I sort of einniee – meiniee – minie – mo’ed cork screws or linguinie. Cork screws won! So I dumped them in the pot and stirred once and awhile, while doing dishes…
By then it was around 6:00 ish…don’t ask – I have NO idea how it took this long to get my pasta cooked..?!? I then looked at the 9×13 dish holding chopped chicken breast, soup and veg. and thought what the heck! Might as well mix everything together and make a casserole…
6:15 had me adding cheese to the top… Well, it needed more color – and you’ve just gotta have cheese!! While it was in the oven, again, I decided to come and write about it.
About 6:30 (give or take a few) I took it out to cool…I’m mind numbingly hungry now! But it’s too hot. I’ve had to give the kids a snack since starting – cuz it’s getting late for them…but it SMELLS devine…and OH I think I made enough for TEN people!!!
It’s 6:40. I am gonna hit the ‘Publish’ button and post this.
I never spend that much time cooking suppers…and I don’t even know what I made!?!
