Groovin’ on the busy drug…
Hey! I am reading this wonderful little nugget of a book called PAGE AFTER PAGE, Discover the confidence & passion you need to start writing & keep writing (no matter what!) – Heather Sellers ©2005, Writers Digest Books.
One major issue Heather addresses is the age old question of having enough time to write. In an increadibly whitty tone, She reminds us that we ALL have 24 hours in a day – it’s up to us how we choose to ’spend’ that time!
My favorite part, so far, is her reference to ‘grooving on the busy drug’. Heather kindly illustrates how people in this day and age thrive on being able to tell the world how busy they are (just for the thrill of it!). No one, in my experience, has hit the nail on the head quite like she has. She says, “For me it’s too passive, too fake, too braggy to be always saying how busy I am.” Speaking directly to those individuals who consistently complain about being busy she says, “You, angel baby, are grooving on the busy drug. You are addicted to distraction. Like heroin, it feels so good the first time…” (-see Page After Page)
For those who dapple at writing on the sly and those who are wanna-be-writers (myself included), or if you just need some fresh insight or a good chuckle, I would highly recommend picking up a copy of this book!
